RESUMEN

Chronic myeloid leukemia (CML) with e6a2 transcript type is very rare in clinic, which is usually related to disease aggressiveness. Its clinical characteristics and relationship with tyrosine kinase inhibitor efficacy are still unclear. In this paper, the clinical characteristics and related laboratory tests of a patient with e6a2 fusion gene positive CML characterized by multiple osteolytic bone destruction throughout the body and eosinophil infiltration in gastrointestinal tract, lymph nodes and other organs were retrospectively analyzed, and the relevant literature was reviewed. The patient was Ph chromosome positive with chromosome +8, and the common BCR::ABL1 transcript of CML was negative, but e6a2 transcript was positive detected by RT-PCR. The patient was treated with dasatinib 100 mg/d. Three months later, the patients achieved CHR, CCyR and MR4.0. However, the e6a2 transcript is very rare in clinical practice, and more cases of e6a2 transcript need to be studied to clarify its clinical characteristics and improve the treatment effect of these rare cases.

RESUMEN

Lung cancer remains the leading cause of cancer mortality worldwide. Small cell lung cancer (SCLC) accounts for 10-15% of cases and has an overall 5-years survival rate of only 15%. Neuron-specific enolase (NSE) has been identified as a useful biomarker for early SCLC diagnosis and therapeutic monitoring. This work reports an electrochemical immunosensing platform based on a graphene-graphitic carbon nitride (g-C3N4) nanocomposite for ultrasensitive NSE detection. The g-C3N4 nanosheets and graphene nanosheets were synthesized via liquid exfoliation and integrated through self-assembly to form the nanocomposite. This nanocomposite was used to modify screen-printed carbon electrodes followed by covalent immobilization of anti-NSE antibodies. The unique properties of the graphene-g-C3N4 composite facilitated efficient antibody loading while also enhancing electron transfer efficiency and electrochemical response. Systematic optimization of experimental parameters was performed. The immunosensor exhibited a wide linear detection range of 10 pg/mL to 100 ng/mL and low limit of detection of 3 pg/mL for NSE along with excellent selectivity against interferences. Real serum matrix analysis validated the applicability of the developed platform for sensitive and accurate NSE quantifica-tion at clinically relevant levels. This novel graphene-g-C3N4 nanocomposite based electro-chemical immunoassay demonstrates great promise for early diagnosis of SCLC.

RESUMEN

For further development of light sources, white light-emitting diodes (wLEDs) have attracted widespread attention as promising next-generation light sources fabricated via the combination of phosphors and LED chips. However, latent defects, such as chemical/thermal instability, low color rendering index (CRI) and high correlated color temperature (CCT), of current mainstream wLEDs seriously hinder their further large-scale implementation. Herein, in order to overcome these limitations, single-phase color-tunable gaudefroyite (Ca3Y(GaO)3(BO3)4 (CYGB)) tridoped with Bi3+/Tb3+/Eu3+ ions was synthesized for the first time and detailed characterisation was performed via high-temperature solid-state reaction and structural/spectral analyses, respectively. Radius difference percentage calculations and Rietveld refinements indicate that dopants occupy both Y3+ and Ca2+ sites but preferably the Y3+ site over the Ca2+ site due to the same valence state. Through subtly regulating the (co)doping contents and skillfully utilizing the energy transfer (ET) strategy from the allowed transition of blue light-emitting Bi to the forbidden transition of green/red light-emitting Tb/Eu, the color hue (including white light) of highly efficient PL can be easily tuned according to the need. Meanwhile, composition/content-optimized white light-emitting CYGB:2%Bi/10%Tb/12%Eu also shows splendid chemical/thermal stability. Finally, as a proof-of-concept experiment, the CYGB:2%Bi/10%Tb/12%Eu phosphor-converted wLED (pc-wLED) was fabricated and encapsulated via the up-to-date remote 'capping' method, which imparted attractive performances. Altogether, the stable CYGB:Bi/Tb/Eu phosphor is a promising candidate for application in lighting/display fields.

RESUMEN

The articles related to Cariology and Endodontology published in Chinese Journal of Stomatology from August 1953 to July 2023 were summarized. Total 1 247 articles accounting for 12.5% of the journal's publications were involved, which reflected the progress of Cariology and Endodontology in China. The publications of five pioneers and nine chairmen of Chinese Stomatological Association Society of Cariology and Endodontology were also recorded. Whether in clinical diagnosis and treatment or cutting-edge scientific research of Cariology and Endodontology, China is catching up with or has exceeded the international professions. Over the past 70 years, China has made outstanding achievements in dental caries and endodontics. Regards to occlusal diseases, dental developmental diseases, pulp biology, pulp and periradicular diseases, and operative dentistry, a significant progress also has been made. While the articles published in the Chinese Journal of Stomatology represent only a portion of the approaches within Cariology and Endodontology, they nonetheless provide valuable insights into the development of these fields in China.

RESUMEN

Phosphor-converted white light-emitting diodes (pc-wLEDs) have attracted attention in the field of solid-state lighting. Selection and study of suitable single-phase phosphor and packaging modes are currently the main research hotspots. Herein, color-tunable photoluminescence (PL) and thermally stable tri-doped Melitite Sr2MgSi2O7:Ce/Tb/Sm are systematically studied via structural and static/dynamic spectral analyses. All dopants could only be accommodated in the Sr site due to similar ionic radii. Previous studies have concluded that green and red PL could be obtained from singly doped Tb and Sm phosphors with excellent reproduction, and color tunable PL can be achieved from Ce/Tb co-doped phosphors. The forbidden 4f-4f transitions of Tb/Sm cause low efficiency and Ce/Tb co-doping cannot achieve white light emissions. Alternatively, co-doping allowed 5d-4f transition sensitizer with emissions in the UV-blue region (i.e., Ce), color-tunable PL (including the white light); high efficiency of Sr2MgSi2O7:Ce/Tb/Sm could be achieved via energy transfer (ET) from Ce → Tb → Sm. The impossibly direct ET from Ce → Sm is associated with the side metal-metal charge transfer (MMCT) effect. Due to chemically nonequivalent substitutions, two positive Ce(Tb,Sm)Sr and one negative V''Sr were created to maintain the whole charge balance. To reduce the defects and allow more dopants to enter into the Sr site, Na+ was added as a charge balancer to enhance PL efficiency. Furthermore, an alkaline-earth-metal-ions blending strategy via partial replacement of Sr with Ba was investigated to regulate PL owing to the change in crystal field splitting. PL blue-shifted by Ba-co-doping, which could increase the degree of overlapping and enhance ET efficiency. As a proof-of-concept experiment, the pc-wLED fabricated via a combination of the optimal Sr(Ba)2MgSi2O7:Ce/Tb/Sm/Na and an n-UV LED chip based on a remote 'capping' packaging mode shows excellent performances, indicating its strong potential application in the field of solid-state lighting.

RESUMEN

OBJECTIVE: To investigate the characteristics of exosomes derived from dental pulp stem cells (DPSCs) in the direction of odontogenic differentiation, to analyze the differences in microRNA expression profile between exosomes derived from undifferentiated and odontogenic DPSCs, and to analyze their possible signal transduction pathways. METHODS: (1) DPSCs were cultured in α minimum Eagle' s medium (α-MEM), and odontogenic DPSCs were cultured in odontogenic differentiation medium for 21 days, using alizarin red staining and alkaline phosphatase staining to identify the odontogenic differentiation. Exosomes from the cell supernatant were isolated respectively, named as dental pulp stem cells-exosomes (DPSCs-Exo) and dental pulp stem cells-odontogenic-exosomes (DPSCs-OD-Exo). The exosomes were identified by transmission electron microscopy, nanoparticle tracking analysis and Western blot. (2) The microRNA expression profiles of DPSCs-Exo and DPSCs-OD-Exo were investigated by microRNA microarray. To validate the result of the microRNA microarray, real-time quantitative polymerase chain reaction (real-time PCR) assay was applied on 3 most significantly differential expressed microRNA. Pathway analysis was taken to detect enriched pathways associated with the predicted target genes of microRNA. RESULTS: (1) The DPSCs were isolated and cultured in vitro showed typical fibroblast-like morphology. The odontogenic differentiated DPSCs were spindle-shaped, polygonal, and uniform in size. Odontogenic differentiation group showed a large number of dark deposits in alizarin red staining and the cells were darkly stained in alkaline phosphatase staining, while the cells in normal culture medium group did not show obvious dyeing. The DPSCs-Exo and DPSCs-OD-Exo had the same morphology, both showed bilayer membrane and cup-shape. The peak sizes of DPSCs-Exo and DPSCs-OD-Exo were (114.67±9.07) nm and (134.00±8.54) nm, respectively. The difference between the two was statistically significant. DPSCs-Exo and DPSCs-OD-Exo both expressed the markers of exosomes, tumor susceptibility gene (TSG)101 and CD63. (2) microRNA microarray results showed that the expression profiles of DPSCs-Exo and DPSCs-OD-Exo were different. Nineteen increased by more than two times, and one decreased by 64%. Real-time PCR results showed that the expression levels of microRNA-1246, microRNA-1246-100-5p and microRNA-1246-494-3p in DPSCs-OD-Exo were significantly up-regulated. The difference was statistically significant. microRNA target prediction database and gene signaling pathway database were used to analyze differentially expressed microRNA, and it was predicted that differentially expressed microRNA could target axis inhibition protein 2(AXIN2) gene and Wnt/ß-catenin signaling pathway. CONCLUSION: DPSCs-OD-Exo and DPSCs-Exo had differences in their microRNA expression profile. Those differentially expressed microRNA may be involved in the regulation of DPSCs odontogenic differentiation.

RESUMEN

Objective: To investigate the clinical outcome and preventive effect of polyetheretherketone(PEEK) rod hybrid surgery on proximal junction failure(PJF) after long-segment fusion of adult spinal deformity. Methods: A retrospective study was conducted to analyze patients with degenerative scoliosis/kyphosis who underwent long-segment decompression and fusion surgery at Department of Orthopedics, Peking University First Hospital from January 2017 to December 2021. A total of 75 patients were included in the study, including 14 males and 61 females, aged (67.2±6.8)years (range:55 to 84 years). According to the operation method chosen by the patients, the patients were divided into PEEK rod hybrid group (20 cases) and traditional titanium rod group (55 cases). The general information of the patients was collected, and the coronal and sagittal parameters of the spine were measured before operation, at 1 month after operation, and at the last follow-up. The clinical effect of surgery was judged by the visual analogue scale (VAS) and Oswestry disability index (ODI). Whether proximal junctional kyphosis (PJK) and PJF occurred during the follow-up and the time of occurrence were recorded. Comparisons between groups were performed using independent sample t test, Mann-Whitney U test, χ2 test and Fisher's exact probability method. The data before and after surgery in the same group were compared using the paired sample t test and the Wilcoxon test. Results: There were no significant differences in age, gender, body mass index, bone mineral density, distal instrumented vertebrae, surgical segments, osteotomy method, operation time, and intraoperative bleeding between the two groups (all P>0.05). The follow-up time of the PEEK rod group was shorter(M(IQR)16.5(4.8) vs. 25.0(12.0),Z=-4.230,P<0.01). There were no significant differences in coronal, sagittal parameters, VAS and ODI between the two groups before operation (all P>0.05). Postoperative coronal Cobb angle, pelvic incidence, pelvic tilt, sacral slope, lumbar lordosis, thoracic kyphosis, sagittal vertical axis (SVA), VAS and ODI were significantly improved in both groups(all P<0.05). At the last follow-up, the SVA of the PEEK rod hybrid group was(3.74±2.40)cm, which was significantly lower than that of the titanium rod group (6.28±4.06)cm (t'=-3.318, P=0.002). At the last follow-up, the ODI of the PEEK rod hybrid group was 30.7±6.1, significantly better than the titanium rod group 39.3±17.2(t=-3.203, P=0.046). PJK occurred in 2 patients (10.0%) in the PEEK rod hybrid group, and no PJF phenomenon was observed. In the titanium rod group, 18 patients (32.7%) developed PJK, and 11 patients (20.0%) developed PJF. There was a statistically significant difference in the incidence of PJF between the PEEK rod hybrid group and the titanium rod group (P=0.031). Conclusions: PEEK rod hybrid surgery can achieve good clinical results in the treatment of adult spinal deformities. Compared with traditional titanium rod surgery, it can significantly reduce the incidence of postoperative PJF and improve the clinical function of patients.

RESUMEN

The application of silicon nanocrystals (Si-NC) is somewhat limited due to their low luminescence intensity. Therefore, it is of interest to investigate methods for enhancing the luminescence intensity of Si-NC. In this study, phosphorus (P)-doped Si-NC with two different doping methods were prepared by electron beam thermal evaporation: in-situ doping (during synthesis) and ex-situ doping (after synthesis). The photoluminescence (PL) intensity and crystallinity of Si-NC can be enhanced through phosphorus doping. Moreover, a comparison between two different methods of Si-NC doping reveals that the luminescence intensity of in-situ P-doped Si-NC is superior to that of ex-situ P-doped Si-NC, which is increased by an order of magnitude compared to the PL intensity of undoped Si-NC.

RESUMEN

Conception of public health was firstly put forward by American professor Winslow. Ensuring and promoting the health of general population is the key connotation for the definition of public health. Oral disease has become a public health problem. Caries which preventable and curable is the most common oral disease and the etiology is also clear. Oral health comprehensive intervention program for children in central and western regions was set up in 2008 by Chinese government. The program included sealing on the first permanent molar and oral health education towards primary school children covering mid-west area. This was the first oral health program invested by government and managed by Chinese Stomatological Association. Six years later, the program was popularized to the whole nation, and renamed as national oral health comprehensive intervention program for children in China. The program had made deep impact on development of oral health service in China. The study tries to analyze the challenges of oral health service through reviewing the background, content, organization and effectiveness of the program, aiming to provide suggestions on policy, financing, system, ability and technology for the future development.

RESUMEN

Objective: To explore the effect of scanning methods on finish line trueness of the full crown preparation. Methods: The standard full crown preparation model of the right maxillary first molars was prepared by using the maxillary standard resin dentition model. The standard preparation was scanned by imetric scanner and data were used as the true value. CEREC Omnicam and 3Shape TRIOS were used to scan the standard preparation. According to the scanning methods, they were divided into parallel scanning group, occlusal wave scanning group and buccolingual wave scanning group. Each group was scanned repeatedly 6 times. The data were imported into Geomagic Studio 2013 software, and the local finish line image data of the mesial, distal, buccal and lingual regions of the full crown preparation were extracted respectively. Three-dimensional deviation analysis was performed with the reference true value, and the root- mean-square error (RMSE) was the evaluation index of scanning trueness. The statistical method was one-way ANOVA. Results: Parallel scanning group: in general, the RMSE value of complete finish lines of scanner B [(35±6) µm] was significantly lower than that of scanner A [(44±7) µm](P<0.05). After scanner A occlusal wave scanning, the RMSE values of the mesial and distal finish lines [(33±5) and (50±12) µm] were significantly lower than those of parallel scanning group (P<0.05). After buccal and lingual wave scanning, the RMSE values of local finish lines in the mesial, distal, buccal and lingual regions [(37±3), (50±6), (28±6) and (29±8) µm] were significantly lower than those in parallel scanning group [(45±9), (63±7), (38±3) and (40±3) µm] (P<0.05). No significant difference was found in the RMSE values of the mesial, distal, buccal and lingual regions of scanner B between parallel scanning group, occlusal wave scanning group and buccolingual scanning group (P>0.05). Conclusions: The scanning trueness of the full crown preparation finish line obtained by the active triangulation scanning equipment can be improved by changing the scanning method to wave scanning.

RESUMEN

OBJECTIVE: To elucidate the protective effect of Qingdai (, QD) on ulcerative colitis (UC) by means of and approaches. METHODS: A systems pharmacology analysis was per-formed to predict the active components of QD whereas the putative biological targets of QD against UC were obtained through target fishing, network cons-truction and enrichment analyses. Meanwhile, we examined the ameliorative effect of QD in a mouse model of dextran sulfate sodium (DSS)-induced colitis. During the 10-day experiment, the control and diseased mice were given with oral gavages of QD (1.3 g raw herbs·kg·d) or 5-aminosalicylic acid (5-ASA, 100 mg·kg·d) every day. The underlying pharma-cological mechanisms of QD in UC were determined using polymerase chain reaction tests, histological staining, enzyme-linked immunoassays, and Western blotting analysis. RESULTS: Searching from various network pharmacology databases, 29 compounds were identified in QD. According to the screening criteria suggested by TCMSP (i.e. OB ≥ 30% and DL ≥ 0.18), nine of them were considered the active ingredients that contribute to the ameliorative effects of QD on different mouse models of colitis. Most importantly, the protective effect of QD on DSS-induced colitis was significantly associated with modulations of the expression levels of glycogen synthase kinase 3-ß (Gsk3-ß) and forkhead box p3 (Foxp3), which are widely considered as important regulators of excessive inflammatory responses. CONCLUSIONS: The results of this study provide solid scientific evidence for the use of QD or its core active components in the clinical management of UC.

RESUMEN

Epithelial root sheath plays a key role in guiding the development of tooth root. Any problems during its growth can lead to various forms of defects or abnormalities in the development of tooth root. Radicular invaginatus may occur when the epithelial root sheath excessively proliferates and infolds into the dental papilla. In terms of tissue origin and occurrence mechanism, the radicular dens invaginatus is similar to the coronal invaginatus which is led by the proliferation and infolding of enamel organ. However, there had been no consensus on the term and classification of this type of developmental abnormality as well as the relationships among the dens invaginatus, the radicular invaginatus and the palatogingival groove. From the role of epithelial root sheath during root development, the manifestations of root developmental defects and abnormalities will be analyzed. The pathogeny, classification, clinical characteristics of the radicular invaginatus, the relationship with the dens invaginatus and the impact on treatment were specially focused on.

RESUMEN

OBJECTIVE: Osteoarthritis (OA) has the highest disability rate among chronic diseases. The burden on patients and public health care resources is increasingly evident due to increasing obesity rates and aging populations. So, there is still a lack of early diagnosis and treatment for OA. MATERIALS AND METHODS: A total of three OA cartilage tissue datasets (GSE1919, GSE32317, and GSE5235) were obtained from the Gene Expression Omnibus (GEO) database. Screening of differentially expressed genes and WGCNA of overlapping genes were performed using the R language package. Functional and immune infiltration analyses of overlapping genes were also carried out while hub genes were screened through LASSO regression analysis method and ROC curve. Finally, experimental validation was carried out through PCR and Western Blot analysis of rat cartilage. RESULTS: A total of 149 differentially expressed genes were screened, and they were mainly enriched in the cytokine-cytokine receptor interaction, rheumatoid arthritis, and interleukin (IL-17) signaling pathways. Four co-expression modules were obtained, of which the blue module was the most substantial morbidity associated with OA. Thirteen overlapping genes were identified based on significant module network topology analysis and differential genes, upon which their validation through LASSO regression analysis method and ROC curve was performed. From these, five signature genes were determined, before three potential core genes were finally identified after confirmation using the validation set. CONCLUSIONS: ATF3, FOSL2, and GADD45B may be hub genes to the osteochondropathy, and they are expected to be new biomarkers and drug targets in OA research.

RESUMEN

Tooth resorption is an idiopathic destructive disease of dental hard tissues. The etiology and pathogenesis remain obscure. It has various manifestations and can be commonly classified as internal tooth resorption and external root resorption on the basis of the resorptive lesion sites. There have been many attempts to make further classification based upon the pathological manifestations in recent years. Radiographic examination is an effective tool to assist in the diagnosis. There are few systematic researches on tooth resorption worldwide, most of which are case reports. This review elaborates on the research progress of tooth resorption from aspects of pathogenesis and classification.

RESUMEN

In this study, the data of pediatric diarrhea clinic of Gansu Provincial Maternal and Child Health Hospital from January 1, 2014 to December 31, 2018 and Tianshui First Hospital from January 1, 2015 to December 31, 2018 were collected. Standardized precipitation index (SPI) and meteorological drought composite index (MCI) were used as drought indicators. Quasi-Poisson generalized additive model was used to analyze the correlation between drought and pediatric diarrhea outpatient visits. During the study period, the dry days in Lanzhou city and Tianshui city were 298 and 379 days according to SPI-1, 303 and 398 days according to MCI, respectively. There were 57 147 and 18 703 cases of diarrhea in children aged 0-6 years in Gansu Provincial Maternal and Child Health Hospital and Tianshui First Hospital, respectively. MCI and SPI (SPI-1) based on monthly precipitation were negatively correlated with the number of pediatric diarrhea outpatients. Compared with the non-drought period, SPI-1 showed the strongest correlation between middle drought and pediatric diarrhea outpatients, with an increase of 13.4% (95%CI: 7.9%-19.3%) and 20.0% (95%CI: 12.7%-27.8%) in Lanzhou city and Tianshui city, respectively. According to MCI, the outpatients with diarrhea in Tianshui children increased by 60.5% (95%CI: 3.4%-149.0%) due to extreme drought.

RESUMEN

Objective: To compare the accuracy and retention of denture bases fabricated by injection molding, milling, and three-dimensional (3D) printing fabricating, in order to provide some references for clinical practice. Methods: A maxillary edentulous jaw model made was used to duplicated 10 working casts. The casts were numbered and scanned. The wax pattern was designed by digital ways and conventional methods and then the denture bases were fabricated by injection molding, milling, and 3D printing. The tissue surface of experimental denture base was obtained using a dental laboratory scanner. The deviation between the tissue surface of the fabricated denture bases and the working model was evaluated. A digital force gauge was used to measure the traction force. Results: The milling group [(0.076±0.026) mm] was more accurate than the 3D printing group [(0.117±0.041) mm] (P<0.05) and the injection group [(0.120± 0.025) mm] (P<0.05). The accuracy of 3D printing group and that of injection group were not statistically significant (P>0.05). The milling group [(9.55±2.44) N] demonstrated greater retentive force than 3D printing group [(5.19±0.06) N] and injection molding group [(1.52±0.52) N] (P<0.05). Conclusions: The denture base fabricated by milling was more accurate and showed the greatest retentive force than the other groups. And 3D printing group showed better retentive force than the injection molding group. Both digital manufacturing methods can meet the requirements of clinical application.

RESUMEN

OBJECTIVES: In our study, we hypothesized that sternum-mental angle (SMA) was a totally new preoperative predictor of difficult laryngeal exposure (DLE). The main objective of this study was to evaluate the diagnostic utility of SMA in predicting DLE in patients undergoing suspension microlaryngeal surgery, and we also searched for risk factors among the selected parameters. METHODS: A total of 95 patients with vocal cord dysfunction who underwent microlaryngeal surgery were collected. According to the Cormack-Lehane classification method, the patients were divided into non-DLE group (n=73) and DLE group (n=22). Preoperative assessments included age, sex, body mass index (BMI), Modified Mallampati's index (MMI), neck circumference (NC), thyroid-mental distance at neutral position (TMD-NP), TMD at full extension position (TMD-FE), sternum-mental distance at neutral position (SMD-NP), SMD at full extension position (SMD-FE), SMA at neutral position (SMA-NP) and SMA at full extension position (SMA-FE). SMA was defined as the angle between the horizontal line and the line from upper border of the manubrium sterni to mental prominence, and SMA's ability to predict difficult laryngoscopy was compared with that of established predictors. RESULTS: The DLE incidence of the enrolled patients was 23%. Univariate analysis showed that patients in DLE group presented significantly smaller SMA values. SMA-NP less than 13 provided 68.2% sensitivity and 83.6% specificity and SMA-FE less than 22.5 provided 86.4% sensitivity and 80.8% specificity for the detection of DLE. SMA-FE (≤22.5) exhibited the largest area under the curve (AUC: 0.868; 95% CI: 0.784-0.952), confirming its better predictive ability. Binary multivariate logistic regression analyses identified four risk factors including MMI, TMD-FE, TMD-NP which were independently associated with DLE. CONCLUSIONS: SMA is a new and simple predictor with a higher level of efficacy, and could help otorhinolaryngologist plan for managements in patients with DLE.

RESUMEN

Regenerative endodontic therapy is a tissue engineering based approach of treatment for endodontic disease. Its purpose is to achieve the regeneration of the pulp-dentin complex, thus to promote root development of the immature permanent tooth with necrotic pulp. Like other treatments based on tissue engineering techniques, the success of regenerative pulp therapy depends on such three elements as seed cells, scaffold materials and growth factors. Since its inception 20 years ago, there have been various terminologies in the literature, with similarities and differences in connotation. The present article summarizes and analyzes the term evolution, biological basis, clinical considerations and future scientific research directions of regenerative endodontics, in order to find out the unsolved scientific problems and to promote the development and standardization of this technique in clinical practice.

RESUMEN

The properties of quantum materials are commonly tuned using experimental variables such as pressure, magnetic field and doping. Here we explore a different approach using irreversible, plastic deformation of single crystals. We show that compressive plastic deformation induces low-dimensional superconductivity well above the superconducting transition temperature (Tc) of undeformed SrTiO3, with evidence of possible superconducting correlations at temperatures two orders of magnitude above the bulk Tc. The enhanced superconductivity is correlated with the appearance of self-organized dislocation structures, as revealed by diffuse neutron and X-ray scattering. We also observe deformation-induced signatures of quantum-critical ferroelectric fluctuations and inhomogeneous ferroelectric order using Raman scattering. Our results suggest that strain surrounding the self-organized dislocation structures induces local ferroelectricity and quantum-critical dynamics that strongly influence Tc, consistent with a theory of superconductivity enhanced by soft polar fluctuations. Our results demonstrate the potential of plastic deformation and dislocation engineering for the manipulation of electronic properties of quantum materials.

RESUMEN

Resuscitation-promoting factors (Rpfs) belong to peptidoglycan hydrolases, which participate in recovery of dormant cells and promoting bacteria growth. In this study, the resuscitation promoting factor rpf2 gene of Rhodococcus erythropolis KB1 was expressed in Escherichia coli and purified by Ni2+ affinity chromatography. The purified recombinant fusion protein Rpf2 showed a closely 50 kDa band on sodium dodecyl sulphate polyacrylamide gel electrophoresis. The protein showed muralytic activity, with a specific activity of 1503 ± 123 U mg-1 when determined with 4-methylumbelliferyl-ß-d-N, N',N″-triacetotri-ylchitoside as substrate. It also showed protease activity when measured with azocasein as substrate, with a specific activity of 1528 ± 411 U mg-1 . The addition of the recombinant Rpf2 protein significantly increased petroleum degradation efficiency of the indigenous micro-organisms and the petroleum degradation rates increased from 30·86 to 43·45%, 45·20 and 49·23% in the treatment groups. The recombinant protein also increased the petroleum-degrading bacterial diversities enriched from the contaminated soils. The cultivable bacterial flora of the treatment groups supplemented with different concentrations of Rpf2 increased from 82 genera in 9 phyla to 116 genera in 16 phyla and 138 genera in 16 phyla respectively. Thirteen extra petroleum-degrading bacteria strains were isolated from the petroleum-contaminated soils in the groups containing the recombinant Rpf2.
